Where to place the card when making a transaction?
Last updated on June 12, 2024
Vibrant uses contactless payment technology - Near Field Communication (NFC), so your customers won't need to insert their cards during in-store transactions. Instead, they'll simply need to tap their card or device with a digital wallet near the designated contactless area on your terminal.
Here's how to guide your customers:
Inform them that your business accepts contactless payments through Vibrant.
Instruct them to hold their credit card, debit card, or mobile wallet (phone or smartwatch) near the contactless area on your terminal. The location of the NFC chip might vary slightly depending on the specific terminal model you have:
Traditional Terminals: On most traditional Vibrant terminals, the NFC area is prominently located on the front of the device, typically above the screen. Look for the contactless symbol (radio waves) near this area.
Smartphones (Using Vibrant App): If you're using the Vibrant app on your smartphone to process payments, the NFC chip is generally located on the back of your phone itself. The exact placement can vary depending on your phone model, but it's often found below or next to the camera.
Let them know to wait for a confirmation beep or message on the terminal screen indicating a successful transaction.
Additional Tips:
Consider displaying a small sign near your terminal pointing to the NFC location for better customer guidance. Contact us if you'd like to receive a Vibrant branded sticker to indicate the placement area.
If a customer has trouble locating the NFC location on their phone, recommend they consult their phone's user manual for specific details.
By following these steps and providing clear instructions, you can ensure a smooth and efficient contactless payment experience for your customers using Vibrant. Remember, contactless payments offer a quick and secure way to accept payments, benefiting both you and your customers.
💡
NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It's a short-range wireless technology that allows two devices to communicate by touching them together or holding them very close (usually within a few centimeters). In the case of Vibrant payments, the NFC chip in your customer's card or phone communicates with the NFC chip in your Vibrant terminal to securely process the payment.
