What is MDM and why is it important?

MDM stands for Mobile Device Management. It's a type of software that allows businesses to manage and control the settings and apps on mobile devices, like smartphones, tablets and terminals.
At Vibrant we use MDM to configure the devices you use with our payment solutions.
Here’s why especially important for you:
Simplified Management: MDM allows Vibrant to setup, remotely configure your device, deploy updates, and troubleshoot any issues you might encounter. This saves you time and ensures your device is always up-to-date with the latest versions, security patches and features.
Security: MDM helps keep your device secure by enforcing strong passwords, restricting access to unauthorised applications, and enabling remote data wiping in case of loss or theft. This protects your business from security breaches and ensures your customers' payment information remains safe.
Enhanced Functionality: MDM lets us ensure your device is set up specifically to function as a Vibrant payment terminal. This ensures a smooth experience when using our solutions in Terminal (kiosk) mode or App-Switch mode (where you might use a point-of-sale or ticketing system alongside Vibrant).
Currently, MDM installation is only available if you purchase your device directly from Vibrant. This allows us to pre-install and configure the MDM solution before we send the device to you.
